Jin awakens and takes the dying young Ben back to the Dharma camp. Juliet realizes that she is unable to treat Ben’s gunshot wound and says she needs a surgeon for him to survive, but Jack refuses to help, leading Kate to take Ben to the Others to be healed.

Richard explains that the process will change Ben forever – he will have no memory of what happened and his childhood innocence forever lost. After agreeing to these terms, Kate and Sawyer allows Richard to take the boy’s body in the temple. In flashbacks, Kate decides to return to the island and leaves Aaron in the care of his grandmother.
