Series 6 would be the last of the Lost series, whereby the program would come to an end. It is scheduled for the 2009-2010 season, with a total of 17 episodes. Though not much is revealed, the producers promise a “highly anticipated and shocking finale.”

Considering the immense popularity that the series managed to garner for itself, it is befitting that the series ends on a promising note. Executive producers of the show, Lindelof and Cuse claim to have “always envisioned Lost as a show with a beginning, middle, and end,” and therefore, by announcing the end of the program, they feel that the audience would “have the security of knowing that the story will play out as we’ve intended.” They both go on to emphatically state that the planned end date of the show is inconclusive and by no means would that be postponed or stalled. Lastly, from among the entire cast of the show, only Matthew Fox lays claim to knowing the way the series would actually end.
